Kids join Chefs to Celebrate International Chefs Day under the theme of “Growing a Healthy Future”

Under the theme of Growing a Healthy Future, Nestlé Professional and Worldchefs, the World Association of Chefs’ Societies, have once again teamed up to commemorate #InternationalChefsDay which falls on October 20.  Seven cooking workshops were organized in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, and Kuwait bringing together nearly 70 renowned chefs and more than 250 children to promote healthy eating.

 

“We are pleased to be partnering again with Worldchefs and local partners around the world to help children better understand the impact of healthy nutrition and food on everyone’s lives and the planet, as we also aim to entice the kids who will become the chefs of tomorrow to be introduced to the culinary profession,” said Joe Aouad, Nestlé Professional Business Executive Officer in the Middle East and North Africa. “This year, workshops emphasized the importance of balancing sustainability and nutrition when developing and cooking recipes, because kids need to know that what we eat not only impacts our health, but also impacts the planet.” 

The activities aim to raise awareness of the impact of food production and consumption on the environment. Kids cooked healthy and sustainable recipes with chefs and were taught about nutrition through fun games and quizzes, in line with the Nestlé for Healthier Kids global ambition to help 50 million children live healthier lives by 2030.

Key ingredients consisting of seven fruits and vegetables took center stage at this year’s workshops, with kids learning about their origins, seasons, and nutritional values:
Blueberries, Carrots, Kale, Mushrooms, Quinoa, Spinach, and Soybeans.
